Thank you for visiting my ExRxRehab home page. I am a Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP), my scope of practice spans a continuum of care from critically ill to elite athlete. I have dedicated most of my professional career to working in Cardiac Rehab and Hospital based Cardiac care. Current research evidence is demonstrating the Science of Exercise Adaptation to be a powerful medicine when properly applied. The science of exercise adaptation is known to reverse metabolic diseases, cardiac related diseases and improve overall health.
With this said, it is important to state the distinction between performance coaches, athlete and fitness trainers and a Clinical Exercise Physiologist. Beyond the extensive education, clinical training and rigors of clinical care, a Clinical Exercise Physiologist is deemed by Medicare as a high-quality healthcare provider. A Clinical Exercise Physiologist’s education and training focuses on how the human body functions across a broad spectrum of health and illness and how physical activity provides the stimulus for disease reversal. The adaptations which occur over days, weeks and months can slow, stop and reverse disease progression. The same science and evidence-based modalities can improve overall health and performance.
I am proud to be an ACSM board Certified CEP. I have been an advocate of the profession before it was recognized as a healthcare profession. After forty years of advocating and promoting the benefits of proper nutrition and physical activity… the accumulation of scientific evidence is now irrefutable. Clinical Exercise Physiology along with other new genres of medicine have moved to the fore front of healthcare because they address root cause and reversal of illness rather than treating symptoms. Now is the time to ask yourself if your current plan of care is based on treating symptoms.
